IOMEGA EGO 500GB HARD DRIVE

I am using an Iomega eGo external hard drive, which has been working with my PC for several years. However, recently, when I try to plug in the drive, the computer goes black and freezes, and then I have to do a complete reboot and the process of computer goes black and computer freezes starts again. This is getting to be a little bit of a pain in the neck, particularly as I wanted to use the Iomega eGo to back up my PC. I haven’t done anything to the drive, such as format it or drop it, so it seems to be a problem with the drive itself. When I plug in the Iomega external hard drive, the blue light comes on, and there is a whirring sound, which seems to suggest that it is operational, but my PC, as I say, freezes up and requires a reboot. This is happening every time I plug it in. A friend advised me to listen for unusual sounds, but so far the drive itself seems fine.

IOMEGA EGO 500GB EXTERNAL HARD DRIVE

I have been using an Iomega external hard drive to save important work, including research papers, photographs and documents. However, after a loss of power when the Iomega was starting up, I have not been able to access these files. Each time I try to download anything, the computer beeps, and then nothing happens except a message saying that I need to reformat my drive. I tried to download a Data Recovery program, hoping to open up by Iomega external hard drive that way, but the laptop ran out of power half way through the program, and I have not been successful in recovering anything since. Although I was able to see the drive in the Control Panel at first, I am not able to now. However, disk management still shows it there as available.
